WHAT ABOUT MICHELLE’S EDITING EXPERIENCE?

She has enhanced the work of writers for Time Inc., where she was an editor for six years plus, On Wall Street, Financial Planning, InformationWeek, Health, Family Circle, Library Journal, Weight Watchers and BabyTalk. Prior to joining the world of magazines, Michelle edited (and reported) for newspapers in Connecticut and Florida.

ANY TIPS ON PIQUING HER CURIOSITY?

DOES MICHELLE TEACH CLASSES OR GIVE PRIVATE LESSONS?

Michelle has been a lecturer at New York University, where she has taught 10-week courses on writing for magazines and interviewing. She gives students an A-to-Z experience, in the sense that she teaches them to think like a writer (and an editor), from concept to pitch to revisions to finished piece. In her interviewing course, she provides students with the tools to form the right questions from their research, write and ask questions and craft the information into an article or profile. All classes involve lots of writing and reading and feedback and feature guest speakers (among them, Pulitzer Prize winner Alex S. Jones, MacArthur fellow Michael Massing and the guru of nonfiction writing William Zinsser, author of On Writing Well). Private students can expect the same rigorous training.
